Position: Audit Staff Accountant
Job Duties:
Under the direction of a supervisor, manager, director, and/or partner, the Audit Staff Accountant will perform the following diversified accounting, auditing, and consulting assignments:
- Lead the execution of audit, review, and compilation engagements for a diverse client portfolio, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting and assurance standards.
- Collect and analyze accounting data to identify ineffective internal controls, duplicate transactions, indicators of fraud, or non-compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive financial statements, providing clear explanations of complex or high-risk areas to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Adhere to professional accounting standards mandated by regulatory bodies such as the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) and auditing standards in Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and International Standards on Auditing (ISA).
- TRAVEL: A maximum of 3 annual trips within the state of Arizona for the purpose of client audit fieldwork and inventory count observations.
Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Finance, or closely related. Employer will accept advanced degree if in the same field.
Experience Requirements: 3 months of experience in job offered, Financial Accountant, or closely related.
Special Skills Requirements:
- Experience with payroll systems, including Workday, involving payroll processing, employee record maintenance, and account reconciliation applicable to broader accounting functions
- Ability to analyze and audit data using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and advanced formulas, to ensure accuracy in payroll and financial reporting.
- Experience with internal controls and regulatory compliance, including payroll tax requirements and labor laws, supporting risk mitigation and audit readiness.
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate documentation to support financial audits, reconciliations, and compliance reviews.
