Scott Mitchem, a certified public accountant (CPA), received his accounting degree from Northern Arizona University. He joined Price Kong in 1986 after  gaining accounting experience working for a “Big Eight” accounting firm as an auditor of publicly held companies.

In addition to his experience with general tax and accounting issues and concerns, Scott works closely with small business owners to develop and implement structured profit improvement plans. He is an expert at succession planning and mergers and acquisitions, as well as areas of litigation support, such as performing business valuations, establishing damages, forecasting income, detecting fraud, and reconstructing records. Scott has also collected evidence for criminal prosecution.

Scott’s other designations include Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), awarded after the completion of a rigorous training and testing process, and Certified Fraud Examiner, awarded by National Association of Fraud Examiners (NACFE) after the successful completion of training, examination, and professional experience investigating fraud related matters. He is also a licensed representative selling securities and insurance through Avantax Investment Services Inc.

Scott serves as a member of the Arizona State Board of Accountancy’s Law Review Advisory Committee. He also served on the board of the Arizona Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners, as well as multiple terms as chairman of the Arizona Society of CPA’s Advanced Business Valuation Round Table. Scott’s community involvement includes North Phoenix Lions Club, for which he served as secretary and multiple terms as President, and Trinity Cathedral, for which he served a term as treasurer.

Nearly every month, Scott spends time at his home in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. His interests outside of the office include personal computer communications, music, and fishing.
